- Ren appears to have better experiences with daily life activities than Shinji.
- He criticizes Shinji for wearing dirty shoes, not holding his tray properly, and having a poor attitude.
- Unlike Shinji, Ren washes tableware properly and carefully.
- Kitaoka flirts with Reiko, but gets rejected by her, as it was inappropriate of him to do so during work time.
- At the pool, Shinji learns that Kitaoka values desires. Kitaoka mentions having "eternal life" to fulfill one's desires but does not elaborate further.
- Reiko exposes the elderly man for modifying animals with all sorts of things to convince people that his "discoveries" are real.
