特捜戦隊デカレンジャー
Tokusou = Special Investigations.
Deka is a Japanese slang for "detective".
Plot
The S.P.D., or Special Police DekaRanger, are an inter-galactic police force who watch over peace in the universe, protecting planets from evil space criminals, also known as Alienizers.
The story begins with Akaza Banban arriving on Earth as the fifth member of the S.P.D. team on Earth. However, he does not get along well with the rest of the team. Just about that time, an Alienizer dealer, Agent Abrera, turns his attention to Earth and brings all sorts of Alienizers there. Now, the DekaRangers, under the command of Doggie Krueger, must learn the balance of teamwork and cooperate with each other to delete the criminals under justice.

She can also transform into DekaSwan, although it is her policy to transform only once every four years.

Trivia
- Despite the DekaRangers having full names, most of the times, their nicknames were used instead.
- Umeko is just her real name inverted, Ko-ume => Ume-ko.
- If you include DekaBright, DekaGold, and DekaSwan, that's a total of 10 DekaRangers; Deka stands for "ten"
- DekaRanger is the first team to include a total of 10 different members with an equal gender ratio.
- The DekaRanger's nicknames are all based on tea names.
- Their family names are based on mystery writer names.
- The series borrows elements from Men in Black and Alien Nation (alien immigration as a sub-plot), as well as Judge Dredd (the DekaRangers using their SP Licenses to pass judgment on Alienizers) and RoboCop (DekaRanger Robo spinning its Signal Cannon and storing it in its leg). The two robotic dogs are also named after the protagonist and villain in Robocop, Murphy and Clarence.
- The series also pays homage to the Metal Hero Series. DekaWing Cannon is a nod to the Vavilos Big Magnum of Uchuu Keiji Shaider.
- The opening changes footage four times. (Ignoring the monster of the week changes)
- Ep 14 adds DekaMaster and Murphy.
- Ep 23 adds DekaBreak, his mecha, and DekaBase Robo.
- Ep 42 replaces DekaBike Robo with DekaWing Robo.
- Ep 49 changes the head turn portraits and adds Tetsu's to the end of the OP right before the SPD logo. This happens in the second to last episode, which is the last time the opening is shown since it doesn't appear in the finale.
