- In the foreground, there is a Bon Festival Festival lantern.
- Leo hides behind a photo cut out of a tanuki. After saying his lines, he ends with Pompom. That and Pompoko are sounds referring to a tanuki drumming their belly. Pom Poko is also the name is a Ghibli anime about tanuki.
- Misao hides behind a cut out for a kitsune/fox. When he transforms, he goes straight into wolf mode.
