The Gaiden takes place between Episode 24 and Episode 25.

Spoiler warning: Significant plot details about Episodes 23 to 26 follow.
This Gaiden must take place after the following because: Kaito is seen working with Yggdrasill. He only started working for them and looking for Overlords in Episode 23. In the opening scene, Kaito is still in the midst of a battle from the previous episode in Episode 24. But it cannot happen after the following because: The city was still peaceful. It started becoming chaotic with a sharp increase in Inves appearances in Episode 25. Kaito did not appear to have access to a Genesis Driver yet, which he obtained in Episode 26.

Trivia

When Youko transforms into Malika, she clicks her Lock Seed and it says "Peach Energy Arms" instead of its usual phrase. It's probably done this way to accommodate the quickness of her transformation sequence.
Iðunn (Idunn) is named after a Norse goddess associated with apples and youth.[1]
- Ironically, the one thing Touka cannot bake is apple pie.
Touka suspiciously appears in the parking lot after Sid's attack, foreshadowing her identity as Idunn.
When Touka is describing the institute, she mentions a leader, a researcher, and a conspiracy manipulator. Whether conscious of it or not, they probably refers to Takatora, Ryouma, and Touka herself.
Shapur (شاپور) means "son of a king" in Persian.[2]
Alfred, Shapur's butler, has the same name as Bruce Wayne's butler from Batman.
After dancing with Shapur, Kouta, Mai, and Shapur do the Gaim finger pose that they sometimes do after one of their bonus corners.
Shapur makes a cake, which is a reference to his actor's real ability to bake pastries.
The name of the girl crossed off is Ishida Yuu (石田優)
Kureshima enters a building labeled Sakura in the Children's Institute.
Sadly, one of the kanji that Kureshima finds in the institute for children says "freedom".
