Like the other Hashiriyan commanders, Cannonborg is named after a car action movie, "The Cannonball Run" which is just known as Cannonball in Japan. He was born and raised on Planet Needham, named after Cannonball's director Hal Needham. The latter part of his name might be a reference to the Borg, villains from Star Trek that robotically modified people to change them.
The monster of the week shouts baribari, which can be interpreted as a revving sound. The Three Seaters respond "Oh, bari3", which refers to when an old cellphone had 3 bars, that'd be a good signal.
Antenna Gurumaa's Dokudoku Denpa attack is a reference to Dokudenpa which refers to people who think they can transmit or receive radio waves themselves.
