- The title is Black and White (shiro), referring to Boom Black and I(shiro)u.
- Takada Masashi plays Officer Asada, who also appeared in DonBrothers as the cop who was always chasing Tsubasa. He also plays unnamed cops on Geats, LupinRanger, and Zenkaiger who may or may not be the same character.
- Patrol Car Sasumata Cutter refers to the sasumata weapon, which was a speak fork weapon used by the samurai.
- Mad Rex makes his first physical appearance. He's named after the Mad Max series of movies. His name is also a pun on Wrecks in Japanese.
- The dog on his side yells Pararira Pararira whenever it wants his attention, which is the Japanese onomatopoeia for a motorcycle horn. His dialogue is full of car and racing puns and allusions.
