Aki believes that Ryou saw something that she saw. She clearly lies about the Akatsuki-gou incident though.
Shouichi catches up to Aki, recognizing Ryou as "the guy who hit me". He tells Ryou that he and Aki were dating.
Houjou continues with his plan to capture Agito, explaining that capturing Agito is the same as capturing the Unknown.
After Aki returns to her apartment (after failing to get Shouichi to stay) she runs into Ryou again. She lets him stay (to protect her) and admits that the monsters are probably afraid that there will be more people like Ryou and Shouichi.
Aki is seen talking to someone on the phone about Ryou and Agito. She says she doesn't think they can use Ryou since she doesn't believe he'll live long in his condition.
Ryou explains that his body gets worse every time he transforms into Gills.
Aki realizes that Ryou is just like her, both doesn't know how to live after the Akatsuki-gou incident. She decides to introduce him to the Akatsuki-gou members.
Houjou authorizes the attack on Gills instead of Agito, but Gills fights back until G3 drives him away.
Shouichi decides to move out to live with Aki.

In this episode, Ryou and Aki echo each other. Aki tells Ryou that he's lying, and then he says the same thing to her later. When Ryou first appears at her apartment, she calls him persistent. When Aki is following Ryou later, he calls her persistent. They both admit that's their good points.
Hikawa is only beginning to think that Houjou is a disgusting person.
