Plot

A woman going by the name Kannin Bukuro is setting off bombs all over town. The police suspect Robo and confiscate his Max Robo action figure. Niko and Robo are given the mission of protecting a university professor and capturing Kannin Bukuro.

Trivia

• Kanninbukuro's full name and birthday can be seen on her application. Yoshi means "good, to like". And her birth date is March 19 Showa Year 54 (making her 28).
• Yocchan brought a straw (probably to play with) to the interview while following Kanninbukuro. He gives it to the police officer after learning she planted two bombs outside.
• From his office sign, Tazaki is an International Relations professor.
• When Niko's taking the tests, Takamura (the boy who all the girls like) can be seen in the background.
• When Niko is checking in on Robo (after a test), in the background the teacher is beating a student.
• When Niko talks on the intercom, she doesn't bother to use one of her special voices. Kazumi (who's in the middle of playing badminton) hears this and recognizes her.
• Niko says "Daruma-san falls down" which is the equivalent to saying "red light" in the game red light, green light.
• Throughout the episode, there are students carrying kendo sticks and lacrosse sticks that are playing with them in the background. Even in the lecture hall with the professor. There's also people in gi who practice martial arts. They fill up the first row of students in the professor's class.
• Robo tries to share an 'indirect kiss' with Kazumi-chan via her spoon. Indirect kisses are a common anime/manga trope.

Episode motifs:

• Grudges
  • Usami holds a grudge against Professor Tazaki for lying about her grades and preventing her from graduating. She has let her life come to a standstill and thinks only of revenge. Meanwhile, Professor Tazaki doesn't even remember her.
  • Robo holds a grudge against the cops for taking Max Robo.
  • Niko's mother begins a grudge against her father for eating her ushamu.
  • Niko's father points out that a grudge can be held against you without even knowing it (which is what is happening with professor Tazaki).
  • The bombs, fireworks, and Usami's product show a transformation of the grudge. First, the bomb represents a grudge that has festered, is meant to harm others, and explodes at inopportune times. Next, the fireworks show a grudge that was initially meant to harm, but instead becomes a harmless, positive thing. Finally, Usami's toy is a grudge that has not been allowed to grow because it is dealt with in its early stages.
  • Usami becomes successful at the end because of her "grudge-bearing" toy.

Series motifs:

• Robo falsely accused. Robo is falsely accused by the cops of setting Kanninbukuro's bombs. Kazumi also accuses Robo of being a pervert.
• Maki's summoning methods. Yocchan throws a baseball into Niko's house with a message from Maki, which knocks her dad unconscious.

• In Voice 3 Target the Ace, Robo is arrested because of his car for a bombing reason too.
• At the end, Niko prevents a bomb from going off by getting on a microphone and saying "Simon says freeze!" In the Japanese version, this is probably the "Daruma falls down line" like in the drama.
