Terminology
White Night 白夜
The kanji literally say "white" and "night". Midnight Sun isn't a very good translation for this movie since it's just a bad dictionary translation. The kanji are very important, in this case it's a part of Knight Dan's title and the ceremony they perform in this movie. A [Midnight sun] means the sun when it can be seen at midnight, a very distinct phenomenon. The titular event of this movie occurs during a solar eclipse. The darkness of this "night" comes from the eclipse and is made bright white by the light of the Ourin (phosphorus) Arrow.
Ourin Arrow 鷹麟の矢
Ourin means phosphorus/luminous, but normally has this kanji 黄燐. In this, Ourin combines the kanji for hawk 鷹 and rin 麟 from kirin. Apparently in this story, the Ourin Arrow comes from the feathers of a mythical bird called the Orinchou 鷹麟鳥.
Garo TV
The making-of DVD that came with the director's cut. The format of the making-of parodies a news broadcast.
