The main characters for the show Tokusou Sentai DekaRanger.
Names
There are two parts to the DekaRanger's names. The first theme is all their names being related to tea. The second part is all their names being related to mystery and sci-fi authors.
- Akaza Banban (Ban) - Based on Bancha (番茶) or coarse tea. Akaza turns into Agasa for Agatha Christie, a famous mystery writer.
- Tomasu Houji (Hoji) - Based on Houjicha (ほうじ茶) or roasted green tea. Tomasu becomes Thomas Harris, the writer for the famed character Hannibal Lecter.
- Enari Senichi (Sen-chan) - Based on Sencha (煎茶) or green tea. Enari becomes Ellergy Queen, a pseudonym for a trio of mystery writers.
- Reimon Marika (Jasmine) - Based on jasmine tea. Reimon becomes Raymond Chandler, famed for writing detective fiction around protagonist Philip Marlowe.
- Kodou Koume (Umeko) - Based on Umekobucha, plum kelp tea. Kodou is Nomura Kodou who wrote detective fiction.
