S.H.Figuarts

From TV-Nihon

What is S.H. Figuarts?

Taken from Tamashii Nations' official website: A new standard in action figures representing the state of the art of Bandai's design technology. Designed to perfectly mimic the range of motion of the human body, the series name is a contraction of the concepts of "Simple Style" and "Heroic Action." Standing roughly 14cm (5.5 inches) tall, the highly posable S.H. Figuarts figures are designed to feel like little treasures.

History

Making its debut with “Kamen Rider V3 (Kamen Rider THE NEXT)” and “Kamen Rider Ichigou (Kamen Rider THE NEXT)” in February 2008, S.H. Figuarts presented itself as a new generation of toys in itself. Combining posability and details into a 5.5” figure, S.H. Figuarts was truly “state of the art” in terms of toy engineering.

While initially released alongside with the “Souchaku Henshin” toy-line, the popularity of Figuarts eventually saw the end for the “Souchaku Henshin” toy-line. For a period, the initials “S.H.” were not explained, leading many to believe that it stood for “Souchaku Henshin” – as homage to the now defunct toy-line. It was some time after that Tamashii Nations publically announced what the “S.H.” stood for.

Since its debut in February 2008, S.H. Figuarts has come a long way. Apart from Kamen Rider releases, it has expanded to include anime and Super Sentai characters. It has also seen spin-off lines. These include the “Figuarts: ZERO”, “Ultra Act” and “D-Arts” toy-lines.

Releases

While Figuarts has seen anime releases, the list here only includes tokusatsu releases.
