Overview
HeartCatch Precure! begins with Cure Moonlight fighting off Dark Precure and losing; which is then revealed to be a recurring dream of Tsubomi's. At school Tsubomi meets Erika, a fashion obsessed and hot blooded girl who instantly takes a liking to her. Tsubomi happens to see this and after bumping into Chypre & Coffret gains the power to become a Precure, though a weak one. She manages to save Erika, who soon joins her and becomes a Cure herself.

Trivia
This is the second Precure series to have computer generated cel-shaded dancing in it's ending sequence after Fresh Precure. This has since become tradition.
Mizuki Nana (Tsubomi) and Takayama Minami (Dark Precure) went on to play magical girls together (albeit on the same side) again in the Tokyo MX anime Senki Zesshou Symphogear.
This is the first Precure series to embrace the spelling of Precure. The previous series Fresh Precure still had "Fresh Pretty Cure" as the subtitle for its logo.
