Plot

The story begins with Akaza Banban arriving to Earth as the Red Warrior of the team, who does not get along with the rest of the team. At that time, an Alienizer dealer, Agent Abrera, turns his attention to Earth and brings all sorts of Alienizers there. Now, the DekaRangers, under the command of Doggie Kruger, must learn the balance of teamwork and cooperate with each other to delete these criminals under justice.

Characters

Tokusou Sentai DekaRanger

Doggie Kruger ドギー・クルーガー / DekaMaster デカマスター
Voice Actor: Inada Tetsu (稲田 徹)
An alien dog from the planet Anubis. He is the leader of the Earth's S.P.D. unit. He is a tough master and only appears to the DekaRangers in battle when they are truly in trouble. His weapon is the "D-Sword Vega"
Aira Tekkan 姶良鉄幹 (Tetsu) テツ / DekaBreak デカブレイク
Actor: Yoshida Tomokazu (吉田 友一)
A super elite from the S.P.D.'s Tokkyou division that was sent to Earth when the Hell's Siblings attacked and rendered the other DekaRangers powerless. He at first is very arrogant and doesn't believe in "good luck" or the "power of justice"; however, after seeing the other DekaRangers growing because of their strong beliefs in justice, Tetsu grew in an interest in them and remained on the Earth branch. His main weapon is on his left hand, the BraceThrottle, which contains a series of deadly attacks. Tetsu also blurts out his catchphrase, "Nonsense", in English at times.
Shiratori Swan 白鳥スワン / DekaSwan デカスワン
Actress: Ishino Mako (石野 真子)
Kruger's personal assistant, as well as the main mechanic of the team. She is half-human. Both Kruger and Tetsu seems to have feelings for her, as seen when they panic when they hear Swan is being targeted or has a secret admirer. She can also transform into DekaSwan, although it is her policy to transform once every four years.

Allies

Murphy
A mechanical dog who has a strong sense of smell, as well as tracking criminals. It can move very fast. When Murphy is first introduced, Kruger placed it under Umeko's care. The two doesn't get along at first, but then became close friends. Murphy can also bite the "Key Bone" to transform into the "D-Bazooka", which is often used for the "Strike Out" attack after the verdict is found guilty and approved of delete.

Alienizers

Agent Abrera
Voice Actor: Nakao Ryuusei (中尾 隆聖)
The main antagonist of the story. He is a malicious Alienizer who illegally sells weapons on the blackmarkets for money to other Alienizers. His greatest ambition is money, as well as taking over the Earth branch.

Catch phrases

English phrases: "Roger!" "Emergency, DekaRanger!" "Judgement!" "Delete approved!" "Gotcha!" "Perfect!"(Houji)

The rollcall in Japanese is actually alliterative with the number in Japanese:
一つ、非道な邪悪を憎み、二つ、不思議な事件を追って、三つ、未来の科学で捜査、四つ、良からぬ宇宙の悪を、五つ、一気にスピード退治!S.P.D!特捜戦隊デカレンジャー!

  1. Hitotsu, hidou na jaaku wo nikumi / One, hate cruel evil!
  2. Futatsu, fushigi na jiken wo otte / Two, pursue mysterious cases!
  3. Mitsu, mirai no kagaku de sousa / Three, investigate with futuristic technology!
  4. Yotsu, Yokaranu uchuu no aku wo / Four, and for evil in space...
  5. Itsu, ikki ni speed taiji / Five, ...with prompt speed exterminate it!

Trivia

  • Despite the DekaRangers having full names, most of the times, their nicknames were used instead.
  • Umeko is just her real name inverted, Ko-ume => Ume-ko.
  • If you include DekaBright, DekaGold, and DekaSwan, that's a total of 10 DekaRangers; Deka stands for "ten"
  • DekaRanger is the first team to include a total of 10 different members with an equal gender ratio.
  • The DekaRanger's nicknames are all based on tea names.
  • Their family names are based on mystery writer names.
  • The series borrows elements from Men in Black and Alien Nation (alien immigration as a sub-plot), as well as Judge Dredd (the DekaRangers using their SP Licenses to pass judgment on Alienizers) and RoboCop (DekaRanger Robo spinning its Signal Cannon and storing it in its leg). The two robotic dogs are also named after the protagonist and villain in Robocop, Murphy and Clarence.
  • The series also pays homage to the Metal Hero Series. DekaWing Cannon is a nod to the Vavilos Big Magnum of Uchuu Keiji Shaider.
