Important things that happened
- First part of Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger tribute episodes.
- While briefing the Gokaigers in the history of the Super Sentai, covering the 22 Great Powers that they already have using a chart, Gai fails to notice Captain Marvelous, Joe and Luka sneaking away.
- After getting ice cream, the three pirates encounter Action Commander Saturakura Jr., who eats their ice cream while revealing his intent to turn humans into chestnuts to power his missile. More furious that he ate their ice cream, the three assume their Gokaiger forms - only to be outmatched by the Space Ninja's antics before his comrade, Sundahl Jr., arrives. The three Gokaigers battle the two space ninjas using the powers of Livemen and the Abarangers, losing to the duo as the rest of their crew arrive and the ninjas take their leave.
- Later, after discussing what the space ninjas intend to do, GokaiSilver uses BoukenSilver Ranger Key to track down the villains. Though they get the jump on the space ninja duo and save the chestnuts, the Gokaigers lose them as Saturakura Jr. opens up a void that sucks in Captain Marvelous, Joe and Luka.
- But as the three shove their crew mates away, Satarakura Jr. takes his leave with a group of Magerappa to support Sundahl Jr. as he uses his Giant Body Technique.
- GokaiSilver fights the enlarged ninja with GouJyuJin in what becomes a losing battle until the unexpected appearance of Fuuraimaru evens the odds - pinning Sundahl Jr. to a building before Goujyujin finishes him off.
- As Fuuraimaru leaves, GokaiGreen and GokaiPink receive aid from a trio of ninjas that dispense the Magerappa. Gai identifies the trio as the Hurricanegers, who explain only their Grand Power can stop Saturakura Jr. and save everyone.
- Seeing no trust in pirates, the Hurricanegers demand for their Ranger Keys. Gai defends his crew, explaining that the Ranger Keys would not be on Earth if not for Captain Marvelous, and that demanding for their return is not right.

- An action commander is being as humorous as his father with Space Ninpou: Position Exchange (置転換), allowing him to exchange places with an opponent's ally to avoid an attack, Pit Fall (穴落とし), sending an opponent falling into Boki Space (ボキ空間), Special Devil Argument (スペシャルでびろんぱ), a breath attack by his enlarged head, and Dongaragasshan (ドンガラガッシャーン), launching lightning bolts.
- He is the son of Saturakura, who was defeated by the self-destruction of the TenKuJin and Shurikenger's sacrifice.

- The episode title, Pirates and Ninjas, follows the format of Hurricaneger episode titles, with a word followed by and and then another word.
- The script Nanami/HurricaneBlue is holding reads "Currently in the wind", a reference to the ED theme for the show, "Ima, Kaze no naka de".
- Nanami was a singer in Hurricaneger. In this episode she is still in the entertainment industry.
- Kouta (HurricaneYellow) was a physician in Hurricanger. In this episode he is still a physician.
- Yousuke (HurricaneRed) is still having the same random part-time jobs, same as in Hurricaneger.
- In the scene where Satarakura Jr. turns a truck driver into a chestnut, a song by Nanami Nono/Hurricane Blue is playing on the radio.
- In the scene where Satarakura Jr. turns a boy into a chestnut, Joint Gattai toys of MagiKing and Dekaranger Robo can be seen on the boy's book shelf.
- While hosting his lecture on the Super Sentai Grand Powers acquired by the Gokaiger, Gai writes an invisible kanji for fire (火) - the mojikara of Shinken Red - when talking about Shinkenger. He also does the Dino Buckler pose when mentioning ZyuRanger.
- Sundahl Jr. and Saturakura Jr. look identical and are actually the sons of Sundahl and Saturakura from Hurricaneger.
- While Sundahl Jr. and Saturakura Jr. explain their scheme to turn people into chestnuts with their missile, Saturakura Jr. says, "Souyuu koto!" ("That's right!"), but pronounces it as "Shoyu koto!" while holding a bottle of soy sauce. Shoyu is the Japanese word for soy sauce.
