Minami Gunawan is a 19 year-old man who became a cyborg after the Gorgom captured. He bears a striking resemblance to his father Suhanda for his cunning and mercurial nature, but also shares traits of the kindness and devotion of his mother Ratmi. Minami is a very sensitive and passionate man, suffering for his unrequited love for “her” but being unable to quench his desire for her and vocally siding with the commoners in their plight. At first he just treats “her” as a very good friend. However, as the story progresses, Minami realizes that he has stronger feelings for “her”. He discovers he loves “her” and confesses this to her.

Using the power of the Kingstone, he shouts "Henshin" and poses to become the mighty Mujahid Rider BLACK. He is referred by Gorgom as "Black Sun". A few years during the events of BLACK RX, Gunawan was captured by the Crisis Empire when the Skull Devils were sent to bring him to them. Refusing to side with the Crisis Empire, they shattered his Kingstone into two piece, thus rendering him unable to transform into Mujahid Rider BLACK. He was then thrown into outer space, where the sun's radiation mutated his Kingstone and allowing him to evove into Mujahid Rider BLACK RX to fight the Kaiman Warriors.
