Ultraman Nexus is part of the Ultra N Project. This was a trinity of Ultraman series that were interconnected. This included the Ultraman movie and the Ultraman Noa stage show. Contrary to its predecessors which were mainly for kids, it was targeted especially at adults.
Plot
The story is mostly centered around Komon Kazuki, rescue worker who was chosen and recruited into the Night Raiders, an organisation which defends Earth from the Space Beasts, which are monsters which appear and attack humans. A mysterious man named Himeya Jun receives the Evoltruster and the ability to transform into Ultraman, a powerful giant, who aids the Night Raiders in getting rid of powerful Space Beasts.
Characters
Dunamists
(Ep 1-25, 37) - Kirishima Yuusuke
- The first person in the series to receive the power to transform into Ultraman, although he is technically the second Dunamist because of the events of Ultraman. He has a rather serious personality, determined to save humanity after he failed to protect a young girl whom he met in Southeast Asia during an assignment for his former photojournalism job. After transforming into Ultraman, he can shift into the red Jeunes form.
- Senju Ren 千樹憐 (Ep 26-37) - Uchiyama Masato
- The next person to become a Dunamist after Himeya Jun vanished after a climatic battle. He has a lively and cheerful personality. Ren is a "Son of Prometheus", a human created through genetic engineering by combining the best genes. After transforming into Ultraman, he can shift into the Jeunes Blue form.
Night Raiders
- As a Child:
- Komon Kazuki was a rescue worker before he was chosen and recruited into the Night Raiders by TLT director Matsunaga Youichirou. When Komon was a child, he was nearly drowned and was saved, and thus wants to help others too, which was why he accepted the invitation to join the TLT. Because he was saved by Ultraman in the first episode, he did not agree to the decision of other members of the TLT to attack Ultraman as they deemed him a threat.
- Saijou Nagi 西条凪 - Sato Yasue
- As a Child:
- Saijou Nagi is the deputy captain of the Night Raiders. Because of incidents ranging from her mother being killed by a Space Beast, to her former lover Mizorogi Shinya turning to the dark side, she hates Space Beasts a lot, and vows to destroy them. Her seriousness also led to her being extremely strict and sometimes disrespectful to new member Komon Kazuki.
- Wakura Eisuke is the captain of the Night Raiders. He is a good and caring captain, and trusts in Komon Kazuki despite deputy captain Saijou Nagi's negativity of him.
- Hiraki Shiori is a young woman who is an expert marksman despite her cute appearance. She trained Komon Kazuki before he became a Night Raider.
- Ishibori Mitsuhiko is the analyzer and tactician of the Night Raiders, often helping the team decide the best strategy to attack Space Beasts.
TLT Members
Terrestrial Liberation Trust
- The strategist of the TLT, he operates from the Combat Information Center (CIC). He is a calm and intelligent young man who is almost never shown to step out of the CIC, instead using a hologram of himself to talk to people anywhere in the TLT base.
- The director of TLT. He lost his wife during the events of Ultraman, and thus wants to learn about the secrets of the light of Ultraman in order to protect the planet. He has a daughter named Matsunaga Hazuki, and is very protective of her and loves her dearly.

Ultraman Nexus
Dunamist
The person who transforms into Ultraman is known as the Dunamist. From episode 5's Japanese title, we know that Dunamist means the "One of appropriate ability/適能者".
It is suggested that this is derived from the Greek word dunamis which means "miraculous power". Or dýnamis which is closer to the Japanese meaning, "able, having ability to perform". Thanks to people on Tumblr for explaining this.
Dunamist's Items
- Evoltruster
- The Dunamist's transformation device which allows him to become Ultraman.
- The Evoltruster can also be wielded gun-like and is able to fire a powerful blast which can destroy weaker Space Beasts in just one hit, and also fire a flare which summons the Stone Flügel.
- Stone Flügel
- Spelled Stone Fleugal on the toy packaging.
- Max speed - Mach 7
- A flying stone device that allows the Dunamist to travel through the air, as well as healing the Dunamist from battle wounds.
- Flügel is German for Wings.
Anphans
Probably derived from the French word "enfance", which means "childhood".
- The Anphans form is Ultraman's default form, which the Dunamist will become after transforming. It is mostly grey and silver, except for the V-shaped color timer which is red.
Finishers
- Anphans Punch
- Anphans Chop
- Anphans Kick
- Anphans Power

Jeunes
Probably from the French word "jeunes", meaning "young/juvenile".
- From the Anphans form, Ultraman can shift into the Jeunes form, which grants him important abilities like being able to summon the Metafield. This form is used by Himeya Jun. It is mostly red with some silver and black, with a blue diamond-shaped color timer which flashes red when Ultraman is heavily injured.
Finishers
- Phase Shift Wave
- Jeunes Punch
- Jeunes Kick

It is mostly blue and silver, with a blue diamond-shaped color timer which flashes red when Ultraman is heavily injured.

- Metafield
- An orange-colored sphere which Ultraman summons. It teleports Ultraman, and any Space Beasts, humans and planes caught within it to an alternate dimension, likely to avoid causing damage to the surroundings. He has to be in Jeunes or Jeunes Blue form in order to do this, although it is unknown whether he is able to do so in Noa form.
- Space Beast
- Gigantic monsters which appear and attack humans, and are Ultraman's most common type of enemies.
- Fortress Freedom
- The name of TLT's base. It is hidden under a hydroelectric dam in the mountainous Kanto region.
- Dark Evolver

- Unknown Hand
- The ultimate villain who is eventually revealed to be Dark Zagi, who controls the Space Beasts and dark Ultramen. He is able to summon the Dark Field G, which is similar to the Metafield, and powers up Space Beasts within it.

- Potential Barrier
- Memoraser
- A cellphone-like device which can erase the memory of a person of anything to do with Space Beasts and Ultramen, and the existence of the TLT. It decides what to wipe by using keywords stored in the target's memory, such as "Ultraman".
- Lethe
- AKA The Sea of Oblivion
- Can be described as a Super-Memoraser. It functions similarly to the Memoraser, but it can target multiple humans in a massive area, possibly globally.
