Tomari Shinnosuke is the titular character in Kamen Rider Drive.

History

Tomari Shinnosuke was born 24 December 1990. His father, Tomari Eisuke (泊英介), was a respected police detective who was killed during a bank robbery.

Shinnosuke would grow up to follow in his father's footsteps and become an elite police officer. Shinnosuke and his partner, Hayase Akira, were pursuing a group of criminals when the Global Freeze occurred. Due to the slowdown affects, Shinnosuke accidentally shot a generator, causing an explosion that hospitalized Hayase. He was subsequently demoted to the Special Cases Department. The accident robbed Shinnosuke of his motivation, leaving him a lazy and unfocused shell of himself.

Personality

Shinnosuke is intelligent and insightful, with a strong sense of justice. His admirable deduction skills and passion helped him to become an elite police officer like his father. However, after the accident during Global Freeze, Shinnosuke became lazy and devoid of motivation. The emergence of Roidmudes and becoming a Kamen Rider provided Shinnosuke with flashes of the energy and skill he once possessed, although it would take time before he was anywhere near his former self.

Shinnosuke enjoys cars and a milk candy called Hitoyasumilk. Hitoyasumi means "short break" which refers to Tomaru's habit of playing hooky while eating this candy. He dislikes having his birthday on Christmas Eve because he gets only one present a year for both his birthday and Christmas.
