- Sylphi is probably best known as the wind elemental in Final Fantasy. Probably based on sylphs (elements of air). Nishikawa's name has nishi or west in it. Seeing as he is a "west wind", his speech is full of English phrases.

- The aka in Akari means "scarlet, bloody red". There are a few places where red is important in the episode.
- The doughnut of the day is Cheery Doughnut.
- Before Yuzuru's accident, he wears a blue plaid shirt. After the accident, he wears a red one. Possibly a metaphor for blood, seeing as how Yuzuru got hurt in the accident, while training on the bike, and Akari is injured at the end of the episode as well.
- She wears a reddish bell on her left hand that you can hear when she's introduced. When the bike hits Akari, you don't hear the sound of the bike crashing into her. Instead, you hear the sound of her bell ringing wildly.
- Beast fulfills the Rider part of his name in this episode, by riding a bicycle.
- Mayu wears her hair in a ponytail like her older sister now. As the second sister, she has previously worn it in twin tails. But as an only sister, and as a sign of the maturity that she found in her older sister, she now wears it in a pony tail.
- Depending on how long she lives, Mayu could be the first regular TV series female Rider. All the other ones were movie Riders, except Shuki, who only lasted a few episodes.
