The kari 狩 in his name means "to hunt". Gai 鎧 means "armor".
The only member in the group who's from Earth. Gai is a Sentai otaku. After having a near-death experience saving a girl, Gai receives three Grand Powers and the GokaiCellular from AbareKiller, TimeFire, and DragonRanger. These three being connected by a dinosaur theme, and also being Sentai members who have died.
His catchphrase is "Gingin iku ze ギンギンに行くぜ!" which means to do things "enthusiastically". It's basically a pun on gin/silver.
Apparently Gai has the ability to redefine reality, as he can combine Sentai characters (Go-On Wings, a combination of Go-On Gold and Go-On Silver).

Navi ナビィ
Voiced by Tamura Yukari

A robotic parrot who has the ability to give prophecies that act as hints for finding Grand Powers. When he does his prophecies, he says "Let's Treasure Navigate!" Since he uses "oira" to address himself, it's likely that Navi is male.
A reoccurring gag in the show is Marvelous addressing Navi as tori/bird.

Space Empire Zangyack 宇宙帝国ザンギャック

The evil empire that rules the whole universe. Their first attack on Earth was known as the Great Legend War. The attack on Earth in the Gokaiger series is actually the second, smaller fleet. At the head of this attack is the mothership, Gigant Horse, headed by the son of the emperor, Waruzu Giru.

Waruzu Giru The commander of the fleet. 司令官ワルズ・ギル

Played off as the spoiled, ineffectual son of the emperor. He sees the Earth campaign as a chance to prove himself.
Name is an altered form of Japanese "waru sugiru" meaning "much too evil".

Damarasu Chief-of-staff 参謀長ダマラス

The most competent, strongest member of the staff, thus he doesn't do anything or directly even appear before the Gokaigers until his last few episodes.

The mad scientist of the group, she creates the gun that makes the monster grow.

Barizorg Special duties officer, Waruzu's loyal follower 特務士官バリゾーグ

The brainwashed, cyborg of Joe's friend, Sid. He serves as the bodyguard of Waruzu and says very little, mostly "Yes boss."

Basco

Played by Hosogai Kei 細貝圭

The combatants

Action Commanders - The monsters of the week.
Goumin 兵隊ゴーミン - The soldiers. Apparently named after the Japanese word for garbage, gomi. In the first episode, a group of them are tossed into a dump truck by the Gokaigers.
Sugoumin 下士官スゴーミン - A step up from the Goumin. Their official rank is "non-commissioned officer". The giant versions can transform into vehicles. Their name is based on "sugoi" or "awesome".
Dogoumin 親衛隊ドゴーミン - The elite guards for the emperor. Red in color like the Emperor's elite guard from Star Wars. The "do" here creates emphasis, like when Marvelous says "dohade" instead of just "hade".
