Present and Past
As this series is about time travel, some has theorized that the two main Riders, Den-O and Zeronos, are a comparison between the present and the past, even comparing them to the Heisei era Riders and Shōwa era Riders.
- Den-O uses the modern day Contactless Smart Card system for train ticketing and payments, while Zeronos uses the traditional ticketing system that needs to physically insert the ticket into the slot;
- DenLiner is a modern bullet train, while ZeroLiner is a steam locomotive used in the older days;
- Den-O can henshin with little negative consequences (like most Heisei era Riders), while Zeronos requires sacrifices to be able to henshin (like most Shōwa era Riders).

- Before the series airing, Den-O is being advertised as the weakest Rider in history.
