Kurogane Spanner is an alchemist who transforms into the masked warrior, ValvaRad.
At some point, Spanner graduated from the Alchemist Academy and earned a name for himself as an alchemist. He created the ValvaRad suit and armor on his own, a system separate from the Rider system used by Gotchard.

- According to the TV Asahi website, ValvaRad is not a Rider but rather, a warrior whose suit and armor are designed by Spanner himself to counter the Malgam.
- Being a warrior-like psuedo-Rider, this makes ValvaRad similar to Mashin Chaser from Drive, as well as Night Rogue and Blood Stalk from Build.
- ValvaRad shares a wrench aesthetic with Kamen Rider Kikai from Zi-O.
