Ultraman Nexus is part of the Ultra N Project. This was a trinity of Ultraman series that were interconnected. This included the Ultraman movie and the Ultraman Noa stage show. Contrary to its predecessors which were mainly for kids, it was targeted especially at adults.
Plot
Komon Kazuki was a rescue worker who was chosen and recruited into the Night Raiders, an organisation which defends Earth from dangerous monsters, known as Space Beasts. A mysterious man named Himeya Jun receives the Evoltruster and the ability to transform into Ultraman, a powerful silver giant, and aids the Night Raiders in destroying the Space Beasts.

Trivia
- The idea for Ultraman's power to be inherited came from Producer Shibuya inheriting his role, as well as his experience in the Hakone Relay Races.
- Before coming up with Ultraman Nexus, the staff had considered making a series called Ultraman Cross. Since the theme was the bond between people. (Nexus is Latin for "bond").
- One of the reasons for the adversity shown in Nexus was because the staff wanted to show that their can be difficulties in life, but people should never give up.
- The Ultraman movie was planned to come out before the TV series, but ended up appearing in theaters around episode 12 of the TV series.
- The staff reused settings and kaiju suits to save on money. They thought it was wasteful to build a suit only for it to be destroyed after one episode.
- It was originally going to be a prime time series. They had hoped the story would attract an adult audience.
- They had a project called Yellow Eyes which eventually became The Ultraman movie.
- They had originally planned for Himeya to have a dark side from his experiences as a cameraman during the Vietnam War. He would get drunk with power when he received Ultraman's abilities. But these ideas were scrapped after the 9/11 incident.
- The last episode was planned to be paced out more, but it had to be shortened because the series was cancelled early.
