Plot
The Legend War was one of the greatest crisis Earth had ever faced. Surrounded by a massive hoard of Space Empire Zangyack invaders, the 34 Super Sentai teams fought tirelessly to repel them. Even after defeating the ground troops, a virtually unending hoard of Zangyack gunships appeared. Making the tough decision, AkaRanger asked for all of the 34 Super Sentai teams to combine their powers, completely destroying the Zangyack assault force. However, this also meant that all 34 Super Sentai team members lost their powers, which were scattered into space.
The Gokaigers, a group of young pirates, tasked themselves with collecting the powers, which have been condensed into Ranger Keys. These Ranger Keys allowed them to use the powers within them for themselves, giving them the ability to transform into each ranger of the keys they collected.
They initially came to Earth to look for The Greatest Treasure in the Universe, rumored to be found on Earth, but found themselves in a battle with the second wave of invading Zangyack troops. To obtain the treasure, the Gokaigers discover that they must obtain the Grand Power of each Super Sentai, by gaining the approval of at least one member of each Sentai team.

Trivia
- The first Sentai TV series to be released on Blu-Ray.
- The text on the newspaper that the Gokaigers read (which has their wanted pictures on them) is lifted from Wikipedia's page on "wanted posters". This is similar to how the text in the background of the Go-Busters' opening is from Wikipedia too.
- Most of the control consoles used aboard the Zangyack space ship are copies of the LCARS computer interface seen in Star Trek. The set graphics appear again in the "Unofficial" Sentai series Akibarangers.
Power Rangers
- On February 17, 2014, Bandai of America showed a Super Megaforce commercial that had a clip from one of TV-Nihon's subtitles in it. Youtube video link (53 seconds in)
