The Guardian Beasts (守護獣 Shugojū) are the mecha in ZyuRanger.
They are avatars of the dinosaur gods, and are worshiped by the five ancient human tribes. Each of the five that form DaiZyuJin corresponds to one the tribes, and is commanded by one of the core five ZyuRanger in battle. Burai was given the Zyusouken to control Dragon Caesar by Clotho, and King Brachion has no master.
It's created from the power of nature on Earth and the light of the sun. It runs on a mysterious energy called Gaiatrons.
The Guardian Beasts
- Guardian Beast Tyrannosaurus (守護獣 ティラノザウルス Shugojū Tiranozaurusu): Piloted by Tyranno Ranger, it emerged from beneath the ground when summoned. It was bigger than the other parts of DaiZyuJin, and the only one of the Guardian Beasts that the ZyuRanger had at first, and thus was used to defeat several Dora Monsters on it's own before the others arrived. It had a roar attack called Tyranno Sonic (ティラノソニック Tirano Sonikku), and could also stand on it's tail to kick opponents. It formed the torso, head, and upper legs of DaiZyuJin. First appeared in episode 2.
- Guardian Beast JuuMammoth (守護獣 ジューマンモス Shugojū Jū Manmosu): Piloted by Mammoth Ranger, it came from a tundra when summoned. It could shoot freeJing gas from it's trunk in an attack called Moth Blizzard (モスブリザード 'Mosu Burizādo), and formed the arms of DaiZyuJin. First appeared in episode 6. It would be incorrect to call it ZyuMammoth because the kanji for Juu would be different from the one used for ZyuRangers and DaiZyuJin.
- Guardian Beast Triceratops (守護獣 トリケラトプス Shugojū Torikeratopusu): Piloted by Tricera Ranger, it would blast through the dunes of a desert when summoned. It's horns were grappling hooks that it would use to grab or tie up enemies, and it was also equipped with a pair of Tricera Cannons (トリケラカノン Torikera Kanon) on the tip of it's tail. It formed the lower left leg of DaiZyuJin. First appeared in episode 6.
- Guardian Beast Saber Tiger (守護獣 サーベルタイガー Shugojū Sāberu Taigā): Piloted by Tiger Ranger, it leaped through a jungle when summoned. It was the fastest of the Guardian Beasts, and had two lasers called Saber Guns (サーベルガン Sāberu Gan) on the tip of it's tail. It formed the lower right leg of DaiZyuJin. First appeared in episode 6.
- Guardian Beast Pteranodon (守護獣 プテラノドン Shugojū Puteranodon): Piloted by Ptera Ranger, it flew out of a volcano when summoned. It was the only Guardian Beast that could fly, and could shoot a Ptera Beam (プテラビーム Putera Bīmu) from it's wings. It formed the chest of DaiZyuJin. First appeared in episode 6.
- Guardian Beast Dragon Caesar (守護獣 ドラゴンシーザー Shugojū Doragon Shīzā): Piloted by Dragon Ranger (and later Tyranno Ranger) through the use of the Zyusouken, it would emerge from Tokyo Bay when summoned. It was equipped with a drill on the tip of it's tail, and missiles in it's fingertips that were fired in an attack called Dragon Hurley (ドラゴンハーレー Doragon Hārē). Burai usually just controlled Dragon Caesar remotely with the Zyusouken, but he entered it's cockpit during his final battle. It formed the torso and weapon of Gouryujin, and the shoulders of Zyutei DaiZyuJin. It's chest would mount on the front of King Tanker in the Kyukyoku DaiZyuJin formation. First appeared in episode 21.
- Beast Carrier God King Brachion (獣騎神キングブラキオン Jūkishin Kingu Burakion): The largest of the seven. It had no master, and would appear out of a misty swamp when summoned. It first appears in episode 29 to test Geki and Burai, who were after the Thunder Slingers that it was guarding.
- It's tail would split in half and be mounted on top of it's hind legs as a pair of cannons, it's chest would slide forward, and a hatch on it's back would open to form Super Beast Tank King Tanker (超獣戦車キングタンカー Chō Jūsensha Kingu Tankā).
- Tanker formed the foundation of Kyukyoku DaiZyuJin and an unnamed combination of it and DaiZyuJin, with the other mecha riding on top of it.
Combinations
- DaiZyuJin (大獣神 Daijūjin, lit. Great Beast God): DaiZyuJin was the combination of Tyrannosaurus, JuuMammoth, Triceratops, Saber Tiger, and Pteranodon. The five would first come together as Beast Tank Dino Tanker (獣戦車ダイノタンカー Jūsensha Daino Tankā), which would then stand upright and form DaiZyuJin.
- In Dino Tanker mode, it could attack with it's Beast Tank Cannons (獣戦車キャノン Jūsensha Kyanon) or with an attack formed by laser beams coming from each of the Guardian Beasts' eyes called Beast Tank Storm (獣戦車ストーム Jūsensha Sutōmu).
- As DaiZyuJin, it was equipped with a shield formed from JuuMammoth's head (which could fire lasers from it's eyes) and a sword called KyouryuuKen Godhorn (恐竜剣ゴッドホーン Kyōryū-ken Goddohōn) (which was used in it's finishing move, Super Legendary Lightning Slash (超伝説雷光斬り Chō Densetsu Raikō Giri). It could also fire beams from it's eyes and forehead.
- First appeared in episode 6.
- GouryuJin (剛竜神 Gōryūjin, lit. Mighty Dragon God): The combination of Dragon Caesar, JuuMammoth, Triceratops, and Saber Tiger. Equipped with the Dragon Antler (ドラゴンアントラー Doragon Antorā), which it used in the finishing move Dragon God Thrust (超爆裂龍神突き Chō Bakuretsu, Ryūjin Tsuki). It could also shoot the fin on it's head as a projectile.
- First appeared in episode 22.
- Zyutei DaiZyuJin (獣帝大獣神 Jūtei Daijūjin, lit. Beast Emperor Great Beast God): The combination of DaiZyuJin and Dragon Caesar. It attacked with a blast of beams called Kaiser Burst (カイザーバースト Kaizā Bāsuto) and a finisher called Empire Attack (エンパイアアタック Enpaia Atakku).
- First appeared in episode 31.
- Kyukyoku DaiZyuJin (究極大獣神 Kyūkyoku Daijūjin, lit. Ultimate Great Beast God): The combination of Zyutei DaiZyuJin and King Brachion (in King Tanker mode), it is the original form of the seven Guardian Beasts. It's finishing move is a huge bombardment of energy called Grand Punisher (グランパニッシャー Guran Panisshā).
- First appeared in episode 31.
- DaiZyuJin + King Tanker: There was also an unnamed combination of DaiZyuJin and King Brachion (in King Tanker mode) seen only in one episode
