空蝉丸

Nicknamed Ucchii for short.

Portrayed by Maruyama Atsushi (丸山敦史)

His partner is Pteragordon

Personality/Appearance

A Kyouryuuger from the previous team in the warring states period in Japan, Utsusemimaru dresses in traditional outfits most of the time, most notably a samurai costume. Unlike the other Kyouryuugers, his transformation device (the GaburiChanger) is mounted on his arm, like a brace.

Utsusemimaru is very kind and straight-laced, he appreciates rules and will regularly do favors for the other Kyouryuuger even if not asked. He is very humble and quite easily flustered and identifies this as a weakness, of which he is very ashamed. He also has a weakness for cute things and sweets.

Being overly humble, he tends to end his phrases with de gozaru, which makes his sentences very polite. However, this phrase emphasizes his fish out of the water nature, since modern Japanese don't tend to say de gozaru like that anymore.

Relationships

  • Utsusemimaru is good friends with Amy and initially listens to her advice on how to act 'cool'. Amy gave him the nickname 'Uchii', which the other Kyouryuugers soon adopted.
  • Utsusemimaru has a great deal of respect towards King, not only because he had a striking resemblance to his old master, but because he treats his entire team as equals, something Utsusemimaru is not used to.

Backstory

KyouryuuGold

キョウリュウゴールド

The Thundering Brave (雷鳴の勇者)

Partner - Pteragordon

  • As KyouryuuGold, Utsusemimaru combines swordplay with long range shooting using his GaburiChanger. The flaps on the back of his suit can propel him through the air for short bursts. His main weapon, Zandar Thunder, can carry three ZyuDenchi, each giving it a different power level. The third ZyuuDenChi allows it to use it's eponymous finishing move.

Trivia

  • His full name means "hollow cicada". It's a reference to being the host to Dogold, the Chevalier of Anger who is a living armor, for many years. Cicadas are known for the shell that they leave behind after molting.
