Important things that happened

This episode was supposed to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Sentai (April 5th). But missed the date because Toqger was pushed back a week. Consequently, this episode was rebranded as a Ninja Festival, since it focuses on past Sentai guests from Kakuranger and Hurricaneger.

• When NinjaRed and HurricaneRed first appear, the Hurricaneger episode title theme is played.
  • During their introduction, an instrumental of the Kakuranger OP is played.
  • When they're sparring, a piece of Hurricaneger bgm plays.
• During NinjaRed's attacks, written out sound effects appear, an homage to the identical effects shown in the Kakuranger series.
• The clocks on Nekomata's body say Sun 7:30 which is when Super Sentai currently airs.
• When Izayoi creates the giant, its foot lands on a grunt and crushes him.
• The Kakuranger henshin theme is played when Sasuke and Yosuke transform and do their roll calls.
  • It's heard again when the Kakure Shuriken is used. ShurikenJin also does attacks that leave text effects like in Kakuranger.
• The bgm track "Kage To Narite Aku Wo Utsu!" from Hurricaneger plays when the Hurricane Shuriken is used.
• At the end, AkaRanger makes a cameo appearance. And the Super Sentai logo appears in the background.
• Like true teachers, NinjaRed and HurricaneRed tell Takaharu to face forward.
• Nekomata is a joke on the popular anime series Yokai Watch, which has an ending that goes "gera gera gera pon" which is how he laughs.

Continuity

• Fuuka references the last episode where Takaharu saves her from a Youkai.
• They mention that Takaharu is stronger in actual battle, something that Yakumo learns in Shinobi no 02.

• Ogawa Teruaki was Sasuke/NinjaRed on Kakuranger.
  • Mr. Heisei Rider Takaiwa Seiji plays NinjaRed's suit actor. He also played NinjaRed on Kakuranger.
• Shioya Shun was Yousuke/HurricaneRed on Hurricaneger.
• Seki Tomokazu voices Nekomata. He's known for being Bibidebi on MegaRanger as well as the device voices in Gokaiger. He's also voiced AkaRanger in other movies, so perhaps he's the voice of AkaRanger here too.

Out of Episode Trivia

• Kasumi does the explanation for the Ninnin Game this time.
• During the ending theme, there's a "guess how many colored fireworks there are" game. The colors match the colors on the remote for TV's in Japan.
